Boost Lake Toba Tourism with Powerboat World Championship F1H20

The F1H20 Powerboat World Championship is an international motorboat racing competition for powerboats organized by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM). Four new ferries and seven new ferry ports have officially begun operating in Lake Toba, North Sumatra, as the government works to boost tourism Lake Toba and Indonesia.

Along with its promotion, the ministry came up with the target of 1 million foreign tourist arrivals to the world’s biggest volcanic lake, fourfold higher than the 231,465 arrivals last year.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno confirmed the readiness of Toba District, North Sumatra, to host the Formula 1 Powerboat World Championship (F1H2O) in February 2023.

“Today, we ensure that the F1H2O implementation is ready to go. On February 24-26, 2023, we will hold an F1 water race, with a boat speed of more than 300 kilometers per hour, and this will be a great attraction for Lake Toba as a super-priority destination,” Uno noted here on Saturday.

“We prepare this, and hopefully, 25 thousand visitors will get an extraordinary experience and the economic impact would not only be felt by the Balige communities but also the entire tourism and creative economy ecosystem in eight districts in North Sumatra,” the minister explained.
